Award Winning Photographer Jenna Barrett

People always ask me how I became a photographer, and the short answer is that I fell in love with seeing the world. I am a bit of a wanderer.  I grew up a military brat, never staying in one place for long and always ready for something new. I am a sailor and a rock climber, a mountaineer and a hiker, a writer and a designer, and someone with a lot of imagination. So photography for me was easy to fall into and I learned quickly that my passion was photographing people. I chose portrait photography as my medium of expression.  I love to create images that are unique and convey the beauty and individualism of the subject.  I involve myself in every step of the process: designing costumes, scouting locations, constructing props and even doing makeup and hair.

My work is currently being displayed at several trendy bistros and wine bars and can be seen in advertisements for boutiques, artists and designers nationally.  I have won several international awards for fashion and creative portraiture as well as local accolades including Best Photographer from Great Day Houston. I have been the cover artist for international publications as well as local magazines. It is important for me to give back to the community and I have worked with and donated my art to The Women’s Home and other organizations for social work, ending hunger, fighting AIDS.  I hope that I can continue to bring beauty and inspiration to people not just here, but all over the world, and that each day brings new challenges and possibilities.
